Dynamic Rockers
Founded in 1978, the Dynamic Rockers pioneered early dance styles of hip hop and were influential in introducing hip hop culture to the mainstream.
The crew was known for progressing the dance's acrobatic powermoves, innovating moves like head spins and hand glides. In 1981, the Lincoln Center became one of the first major institutions to formally recognize hip hop as a legitimate art form when it included a battle between the Dynamic Rockers and the Rock Steady Crew in a dance festival.
The Dynamic Rockers have grown alongside hip hop culture, recruiting members from each generation and continuing to innovate and inspire. The crew makes use of its unique position to connect hip hop's elders with children of the culture in need of mentors. The Dynamic Rockers founded the Kids Breaking League and run extensive programs for teaching, preserving hip hop history, and community outreach.
